The Gift of Desire
Original Content | January 05, 2010
You might ask, “Why is this important?” It is because desire is the spark that ignites the flame of your soul and illuminates your innate creativity, imagination and vision. On this day, you will summon one of the most powerful agents of change in the universe—desire. In its purest form, your soul’s desire is a magnet pulling you toward the life you want to live. Your desires will source you with the inspiration to release your outdated beliefs and let go of whatever behavior is keeping you stuck in the past. Your soul’s desires compel you to grow, evolve and move closer to your highest potential. Beneath the surface of your ego’s insatiable cravings, your authentic desires are waiting patiently for you to acknowledge, claim and express them.
So today is the day for you to evoke two desires for 2010 that will lead you to joy, fulfillment and the next greatest evolution of yourself. These desires will act as your guide and your focus point through this life-altering process.
Take these next few minutes to go inside to that place where you have all the wisdom you need to live a life you love.
- Listen to your meditation on desire (8 minutes)
Write down the area of your life that most needs your attention right now and then write out all the details you saw of your soul’s vision for this part of your life. What will that part of your life look like? How will achieving your goal change your life? How will it change the life of those around you? When you reach your goal, when you fulfill that desire, what will it make room for? Write that all down.
Then write down your inner goal. What is the one feeling you desire to feel most this year? How will you act differently if you were feeling that feeling all the time? How would people around you benefit? What would be different in your world?Write it out in great detail.
Your Outer Goal: What is one action you can take today that will move you one step closer to your soul’s vision? Make a commitment to take that action.
Your Inner Goal: What is one action you can take or one thought you can think that will support you in having more of the feeling you most desire?Take that action or think that thought today.
Soul Food: I am worthy of living my heart’s desires.

>I attended a program yesterday lead by Lawrence Kampf. He is leading a group of people through a 3 week detox program. It’s a great program with lots of support. If you have ever done a detox in the past, you know that support is very important to the success of it.
I have been leading several people through RESET these past couple of weeks. The energy of a new year brings renewed enthusiasm to people and their goals to get healthier.
Lawrence reminded me that it’s not only important to look at what you are consuming on a food level, but also on a media level. Have you ever tried a media diet? That’s where you stop watching the news or reading papers or eNews outlets. I started my media diet and few years ago and felt so much happier about life in general, I never went back. I was really an over-consumer of news and info. Now, if someone sends me a clip of something interesting, I may click on the link and read more. I find that if it’s really important news, the info makes its way to me. Kind of like the law of attraction for information. I now have a lot more space to use my energy in more positive ways. I also read lots of great books both fiction and non-fiction.
Take time in these first few weeks of 2011 to be conscious about what you take into your body, both food and otherwise.
>I don’t know about you, but I love the energy that seems to surround the first few days and weeks of a new year. I feel like anything is possible. I’ve taken time to acknowledge my good stuff in 2010 and things I would have liked to gone better. I have appreciation for the lessons of the year and all the abundance. It’s just one day to the next, but going from the 31st to the 1st seems to hold so much energy and power. I love the anticipation of a new year. I hope you are enjoying it as well.
This year I purchased a smaller agenda for 2011. My goal is to have a shorter To Do list. I plan to have more fun and do less “things”. I figure if I give myself less paper to write it down, then I’ll have to find another time to get it done. Does it all need to be done today anyway? What’s the most important thing for today? These are the questions I’ve been asking lately. It’s been nice and it feels more efficient, less busyness. I invite you to join me in shorter to-do lists for 2011. And make sure FUN is on the list daily.
Enjoy the excitement and newness of the new year.
